Dr. Arya M. Sharma, MD, DSc (hon), FRCPC, is Professor Emeritus of Medicine & Past-Chair in Obesity Research and Management at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He is also the Past-Clinical Co-Chair of the Alberta Health Services Obesity Program.
Dr. Sharma is the founder and Scientific Director of Obesity Canada (formerly Canadian Obesity Network), a network of over 10,000 obesity researchers, health professionals, and other stakeholders. He is also a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
He is also the Past-President of the Canadian Association of Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons.
