Dr. Gen Min Lin Chief, Department of Medical Education and Research, Hualien Armed Forces General Hospital, Taiwan, R.O.C.

Dr. Lin received his MD from National Defense Medical Center in 2003, his MPH degree from Tzu Chi University in 2012 and his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from National Dong Hwa University in 2018, in Taiwan. He joined Hualien Armed Forces General Hospital in Taiwan in 2009 and has become the Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine since 2018. His research interests include cardiovascular epidemiology, signal analysis and artificial intelligence. He has published 142 international journal papers until now, including 15 full articles and meta-analyses for the reverse epidemiology of metabolic factors for mortality in cardiovascular disease before 2013. Since 2013, he has collaborated with Northwestern University in U.S., and become an investigator of the Multi-Ethnic Atherosclerosis Study (MESA) for the relationship between sleep apnea, retinal microvascular signs and incident atrial fibrillation. Since 2015, he has led the project of cardiorespiratory fitness and hospitalization events in armed forces (CHIEF), aimed for improving military health in Taiwan. He has been an adjunct assistant professor in the National Defense Medical Center since 2016 and in the Department of Preventive Medicine of Northwestern University since 2019. In 2017-18, he was a visiting assistant professor in National Dong Hwa University. He won the Taiwan Excellent Military Physician Award 2016 and the Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award at the AHA EPI Lifestyle 2020-2022 conferences. In addition, he has been elected as International Fellow of American Heart Association (FAHA) since September 2020 and Fellow of American College of Cardiology (FACC) since April 2022.
