Dr. Louis Muwazi Associate Professor, Maxillofacial Surgery, Makerere University
Undergraduate Degree is Stomatology, 1983, Certificate of Internship, Ministry of Health Uganda, Masters and PhD in Maxillofacial Surgery (Kharkov or Kharkiev Medical Institute 1991). Joined Makerere University, Kampala and have been first a Lecturer in Maxillofacial Surgery, Then Senior Lecturer 2006 up to 2018, then promoted to Associate professor Maxillofacial Surgery until June 2023. Now I am Associate professor Maxillofacial Surgery at Makerere University on Postretirement Contract. Had a number of short courses In South Africa, Sweden and Tanzania. Written a number of Publications on Continued use of Dental Amalgam, and Association of Oral infections with Preterm Birth Complications. Member of FDI, Uganda Dental Association. Participated in Developing the present BDS Curriculum in use at Makerere Dental School, and spearheaded the creation of Master of Maxillofacial Surgery a four year programme. For 9 years was a member of The Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council, the Highest Body overseeing the training and practice of Dentists in Uganda.
