Prof Philippe N Lukanu is of Congolese nationality (DRC). After his medical studies at the University of Lubumbashi, he holds a Master's degree in Family Medicine from MEDUNSA (Medical University of Southern Afica in Pretoria currently Sefako Maghkata university. He holds a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Loraine in Nancy France. He obtained his PhD at Atlantic University, Hawaii, USA. He is passionate about Primary Health Care in a holistic approach. Holder of several publications, his areas of research are: Primary health care, neglected tropical diseases, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, metabolic diseases (diabetes), malaria, maternal and child health, etc. His experience in primary health care has given him expertise in management of health programs and projects: Vaccination program, fight against malaria, fight against HIV/AIDS, fight against Tuberculosis, fight against sickle cell anemia, management of health institutions at the operational level. From 2012 - 2017, he was Deputy Project Manager at SANRU Asbl (NGO) of the Project to fight HIV/AIDS in 141 health zones and enabled the initiation of ARVs for nearly 36,000 Patients on ARVs. Responsible for programmatic compliance since 2018, Prof Dr Philippe N Lukanu is currently responsible for the Bilateral projects portfolio within the same institution. He is one of the pioneers of the introduction of family medicine in the DRC. He is the head of the department of Family Medicine and Primary Health Care at the Faculty of Medicine of the Protestant University in Congo, the only university organizing this specialty in the DRC.
