Supine hypotensive syndrome of pregnancy, defined as a fall in systolic blood pressure of at least 15-30 mmHg, affects 15% of women at term. This state can be exacerbated by a decrease in Stroke Volume and Cardiac Output during general anesthesia and sympathetic suppression during neuraxial anesthesia.
