Cryptococcal meningitis (CM) is a deadly disease accounting for 181,000 annual deaths globally, caused by opportunistic infection by Cryptococcus spp. (1). HIV patients having compromised immune system has a higher incidence of CM, causing about 15% of HIV-related deaths. CM is also found in HIV-negative individuals mostly in the Asian populations.
